The spark that led Ronny to focus the company into the home modification niche came from his own grandmother. She was afraid of injuring herself while trying to climb into her bathtub. Ronny’s decision to shift the direction of the business came after the bathroom modifications were made and he saw how quickly his grandmother regained her confidence, independence and happiness. The spark that led Ronny Wiskin, the President of the Franchisor, to focus on the home modification business came from his own grandmother. She was afraid of injuring herself while trying to climb into her bathtub. After Ronny made modifications to his grandmother‟s bathroom he saw how quickly his grandmother regained her confidence, independence and happiness. RILS focus is to improve lives in the same way his grandmother's life changed. RILS has established a franchise system for providing specialized products and services for barrier-free living under the name and style “Reliable Independent Living Services”. The Franchisor seeks to establish as franchisees a team of professionals whom are compassionate and considerate of people's individual needs and as such is offering a Franchisee the right to purchase a “Reliable Independent Living Services” franchise. RILS offers and grants licenses to Franchisees to use the “RILS” System and the Trademarks in the operation of a “Reliable Independent Living Services” franchise. The Franchisor, in addition owns and operates corporate locations under the trademark “Reliable Independent Living Services”. RILS is currently concentrating its growth strategy in the Ontario marketplace, but plans to expand the RILS concept across Canada.

Ronny Wiskin is living proof of that idea. As a high school student at George Vanier, Ronny was thinking ahead to life beyond a classroom. He was contemplating his future and an important element of this was to spend it doing something he loved while making a good living. There was really one clear choice so after completing his Grade 10 construction co-op, he signed himself out of school on his sixteenth birthday to start his Entrepreneurial journey.
